Renowned American rapper, Melissa Jefferson, professionally known as Lizzo, has firmly denied allegations of sexual harassment leveled against her by former staff members.

According to reports, three former members of Lizzo’s dance team, Arianna Davis, Crystal Williams, and Noelle Rodriguez, filed a lawsuit against the rapper on Tuesday, accusing her of engaging in sexual, religious, and racial harassment.

The court documents state that Lizzo allegedly pressured her dancers to participate in explicit activities with nude performers during a live sex show in Amsterdam as part of a concert trip in February.

The lawsuit also includes Lizzo’s dance captain, Shirlene Quigley, who is accused of imposing her religious beliefs on the dancers. Davis was reportedly referred to as a “non-believer” by Quigley, who also criticized cast members involved in premarital sexual relationships.

Davis also stated that Lizzo, known for promoting body positivity, made derogatory comments about her weight and questioned her dedication to their performances.

Responding to the allegations on Thursday, Lizzo took to her Instagram page and dismissed the accusations as “false” and “outrageous.”

In part of her statement, she said, “These past few days have been incredibly difficult and profoundly disappointing. My work ethic, values, and respectfulness have all been called into question. My character has been criticized. Usually, I choose not to address baseless claims, but these allegations are so unbelievable and outrageous that I cannot ignore them.”

Lizzo admitted that her performances demand hard work and high standards, but she emphasized that she never intended to make anyone feel uncomfortable or undervalued as a member of her team.

Jefferson also addressed the accusations of sexual harassment and body shaming, asserting that she is not the “villain” that the public and media have portrayed her to be.

“I am unapologetically open about my sexuality and self-expression, but I will not permit people to use that openness to falsely depict me,” she added.

She further stated, “There is nothing I take more seriously than the respect we deserve as women in this world. I am all too familiar with the daily experience of being body-shamed, and I would never criticize or dismiss an employee because of their weight.”

She expressed her disappointment but vowed not to allow these allegations to overshadow the positive impact she has made in the world. She concluded her statement by thanking everyone who has shown support during this challenging time.

Williams and Davis were terminated from their positions by Lizzo on separate occasions, while Rodriguez resigned after an alleged altercation in which Lizzo reportedly attempted to physically assault her.

The attorney representing the plaintiffs, Ron Zambrano, condemned the rapper and her management for their treatment of employees, which he claims contradicts the public image that Lizzo portrays.
