Biography of Noah Syndergaard
Noah Seth Syndergaard was born on November 29, 1992 to Heidi and Brad Syndergaard in Mansfield, Texas. When he was born, his mother Heidi was employed by Abbott Laboratories, while his father Brad was described as a farm boy from Iowa. He had two other siblings from his father’s previous marriage, but was the only child his mother had with his father.
Growing up and unlike many Texas kids, Syndergaard started playing baseball rather than football, which was the town favorite. For his choice, his parents were totally supportive and encouraged him to play baseball. He had his first home run at age 7 and was personally a big fan of the MLB Texas Rangers.
For his education, Syndergaard attended MansfieldLegacy High School in Mansfield, Texas where he also played basketball. Choosing college for him was a decision that rested squarely on the role of baseball. Noah went looking for coaches at several universities such as the University of Nebraska, the University of Oklahoma and Baylor University, but it was Dallas Baptist University that offered him a scholarship to the college baseball and therefore signed up to play for the Dallas Baptist Patriots.
However, it was interim, Noah Syndergaard opted to sign for the Toronto Blue Jays after being selected in the 1st round of the 38th overall in the 2010 MLB draft. The Blue Jays offered him a signing bonus of $600,000 to relinquish his commitment to the Dallas Baptist Patriots.
Like any other MLB rookie, he started working. He was traded in 2012 to the New York Mets alongside his teammates. Travis d’Arnaud, John Buck and Wuilmer Becerra will give way to RA Dickey, Josh Thole and Mike Nickeas on Jay’s side. With the Mets his performances were unimpressive, he continued to prove himself in the lower leagues even being selected for the 2013 All-Star Futures Game.
He made his MLB debut on May 12, 2015 in a game against the Chicago Cubs, which unfortunately ended in a 6-1 loss for his team. Nonetheless, Noah Syndergaard proved himself in subsequent games and ended his rookie season with a 9-7 record and 3.24 ERA in 24 starts. Noah also proved he had the ability to throw a 100 mph fastball every once in a while, he batted 166 batters, gave up 31 walks including 2 intentional, 126 hits, 60 hits with 54 earned and an impressive 19 home runs in just 150 innings with a WHIP of 1.04.
