Didier Drogba, the Ivorian legend, anticipates a challenging encounter with the Super Eagles at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations. The Elephants are set to clash with the three-time winners in their second Group C fixture at the Alhassane Quattara Stadium, Ebimpe, Abidjan, on January 18. Joining them in the group are Equatorial Guinea and Guinea-Bissau, with the top two teams securing spots in the Round of 16.
Drogba acknowledged that Nigeria poses a formidable threat to his country’s ambitions. He emphasized the competitive nature of the tournament, stating, “There’s no such thing as a generous draw because all the teams deserve to be here, and they’re going to fight.” Regarding the Super Eagles, Drogba highlighted the presence of players like Victor Osimhen and recognized the potential for surprises from the other teams in the group.
The 2023 AFCON finals are scheduled to take place from January 13 to February 11.
