Once in a while we come across people who are famous but hate all aspects of fame. One of these people is the British motorcyclist, Guy Martin, television presenter and truck mechanic. A Lincolnshire native who has competed in several TT races on the Isle of Man but never managed to win a single event, he is credited with being the reason road racing has become popular in the UK. modern era.

Martin said he didn’t see dirty errands or television work being real work, but only those where he has to be practical. Because of this, and his enormous interest and love for engineering, Martin maintains a job as a mechanic to this day which he prioritizes above all else.

Who is Guy Martin?

On November 4, 1981, in a suburb of Grimsby, Lincolnshire, England, Guy Martin was born to his parents; Rita (née Kidals) and Ian Martin. His father was a motorcycle racer, truck mechanic and motorcycle salesman while his mother, of Latvian descent, was a housewife.

Starting around the age of 12, Martin reportedly took an increasing interest in one of his father’s jobs: working on trucks. The story goes that while Martin attended Kirmington Church of England Primary School and Vale Academy, he only talked about engines. Whenever he had the chance, he tried to dismantle the family lawnmower in order to speed it up. Because of his obvious interest in mechanics, his parents enrolled him in an automotive engineering course at North Lindsey College. Martin ended up only spending a month at the institution, as he soon realized that he already knew what he was being taught. He then continued his apprenticeship as a truck fitter at a Volvo center, while receiving classroom training.

While finishing his apprenticeship where he earned £300 a week, Guy Martin again followed in his father’s footsteps to start riding motorbikes. At the age of 18, after crashing on public roads while racing, he decided to take up the sport seriously, although he has since made sure to continue working as a heavy lifter. After around six years of motorcycle racing experience, Martin made his Isle of Man TT debut with the Uel Duncan Racing team. He went on to represent 17 teams on the podium, including Hydrex Honda, Wilson Craig Honda and TAS Racing, then Al-Air Flanagan.

Regarding his TV career, presenter Guy Martin came to the attention of TV executives after appearing on a show on ITV4 in 2009. His performance on camera is said to have impressed North One TV producers who have decided to register it. His first television appearance was on the documentaries, The Boat That Guy Built (2011) and How Britain Worked (2012) which aired on the BBC and Channel 4, respectively.

Net value

Guy Martin has come a long way from when he, 24, lived on his girlfriend’s parents’ farm, as he is now said to have a net worth of £1.5million. Martin, who holds the Guinness World Records for the fastest speed on a snow sled and a gravity-fed soapbox, and the British record for the fastest hovercraft, has been able to amass his wealth through his career as a biker and television presenter.

In addition to his winnings from the two attempts, as noted above, Martin received unspecified amounts for the three books he wrote. In 2014 he wrote his first book, an autobiography titled Guy Martin: My Autobiography, which reached No. 1 in the Sunday Times Bestseller list. A year later, he released Guy Martin: When You Die, You Die, which ranked No. 1 in the celebrity autobiography category for online retailer Amazon in November 2015. The third book is titled Guy Martin: Worms to Catch.

Is he married? Who is his wife, his girlfriend?

Guy Martin is not married, but he has been in a long term relationship with his partner, Sharon Comiskey. It’s unclear exactly when the pair first met, however, he was said to have been involved in a moped race in Ireland in the early 2010s. Sharon was then working for a publisher in the capital, Dublin.

In 2014, reports said Sharon left Ireland to move to North Lincolnshire, England, where Martin resides. In 2017, on October 23, the couple welcomed a daughter, Dottie ‘Dot’ Martin.
