The future of Jose Mourinho as Roma’s manager hangs in the balance as a loss against Cagliari on Sunday could result in his sacking.
Mourinho, previously in charge of Manchester United and Chelsea, is currently in his third season with Roma. Under his guidance, the team achieved consecutive sixth-place finishes in the league and won the Europa Conference League. They also reached the final of the Europa League.
However, Roma’s performance this season has been lackluster, with only two victories in their first seven games, placing them in the 13th position in the Serie A table.
Reports from Correire dello Sport suggest that if Roma falls to the league’s bottom team, Cagliari, owner Dan Friedkin is ready to dismiss Mourinho. After their 4-1 defeat against Genoa, Friedkin initially desired to terminate Mourinho’s contract. However, sporting director Tiago Pinto convinced Friedkin to give Mourinho more time.
Despite subsequent victories against Frosinone (2-0 in the league) and Servette (4-0 in the Europa League), Friedkin is still contemplating Mourinho’s future at Roma.
