November is here and the temperature roller coaster ride continues. Reno saw some really warm days for October and some pretty cold ones too. The graphic above shows below average temperatures in blue, above average in red, and seasonable in white. Notice how it goes from red to blue, like a pattern or a train. Just a couple weeks ago temperatures were in the mid 80’s, and then last weekend Reno saw its first hard freeze. The month started out cold with highs roughly twenty degrees below average. The middle of the month was warm, even tying records. Halloween was seasonable with a high of 64 degrees.
Less than a tenth of an inch of rain fell at the Reno Airport this year in October, starting the new water year off with a deficit of .45”. Just under a quarter of an inch of precipitation fell at South Lake Tahoe this month too. Which is over an inch behind normal for the month. Some of our ski resorts like Homewood picked up a few inches of snow though. More snow is possible above 8000’ this coming weekend. Stay tuned for more weather updates.
