Method Man whose original name is Clifford Smith was born on March 2, 1971 in Hempstead, Long Island, New York. His parents divorced when he was a child, so he grew up between his father and mother on Long Island and his mother in the Park Hill section of Staten Island.
The 6′ 3″ rapper has two sisters Terri Smith and Missy Smith. He takes his stage name “Method Man” from a 1979 film of the same title. He is a rapper, actor, producer and member of the East Coast hip-hop group, Wu-Tang Clan.

Method Man was the first solo star to emerge from the Wu-Tang clan. His rhymes made him conspicuous and unpredictable, which made people love his music. He signed with the rap label, Def Jam Records although he had other offers from other labels like Elektra Records. Her debut album, Tical, which dropped in 1994, sold over a million copies, entered #4 on the US charts and went platinum. The album featured the Grammy-winning hit “I’ll Be There For You / You’re All I Need” after being remixed with Mary J. Blige. He then released other singles like Bring the Pain and Release Yo Delfwhich gave him a bigger name in hip-hop, and from there, Method Man began making guest appearances on other artists’ albums. It was featured on Notorious BIG’s debut Readyor Die album as well as Tupac Shakur’s ‘All Eyez on Me’ album.
On June 3 , 1997, the Wu-Tang Clan released their Grammy-nominated Wu-Tang Forever album. The album has sold over 8.3 million copies worldwide. Method unveiled their second album Tical 2000: Judgment Day, which was released in 1998. The album was certified double platinum and was also guest-starred by D’Angelo, Chris Rock, Redman, Donald Trump, Janet Jackson, etc This album sold better than his first. He was also part of the Hard Knock tour with other artists such as famous Jay Z, Jarule, DMX and Redman. Method Man and Redman recorded ‘Blackout’ during one of the tours and, like other albums, it was a hit.
In 2004, he released his third solo album Tical 0: The Prequel which featured the hit night single “WhatsHappenin” which he sang with Busta Rhymes. The album was criticized and Method accused Sean Combs, aka P. Diddy, who was its producer.In August 2006, Method Man released his fourth album, 4:21: The Day After.It was more focused this time even in fan and media opinion.The album, unlike by the way, didn’t really sell as he didn’t have a video or a single.He wasn’t happy with his label and tried his best to promote this album on his own.Method man’s fifth album is titled Crystal meth. He had legal problems
Like most rappers we know, Method Man was no different. He too had legal problems. On May 17, 2007, he was arrested in New York for illegal possession of marijuana. He was stopped by a police officer for having received an expired inspection sticker and, on approaching the vehicle, he discovered that he was in possession of a bag containing marijuana and that he was smoking it also. He was charged and found guilty. His attorney reached a plea deal and he was assigned to do community service and write songs about the dangers of drugs that he would rap to young children.
In October 2009, Method was arrested at his home for an income tax violation, to which he pleaded guilty and later paid a $106,000 fine.

Method Man loves privacy and only gives what he wants you to know, which is why he got mad at Wendy Williams when she disclosed that his wife, Tamika, had cancer. According to Method, this was a secret that even his close friends were unaware of. Later, he told how his wife had fought against cancer, saying she was the strongest person on the planet.
