BIOGRAPHY
Director, producer and screenwriter, Jon Bokenkamp is part of the team responsible for making one of the most important series in recent years: The Blacklist . He was attracted to the film arts from a very young age and to spend his free moments he made small home videos. He later attended the University of Nebraska and continued his training in cinematographic arts at a university in California. His career in the medium began as a game: one of his best friends invited him to participate in a script contest to which Jon submitted a measured manuscript. To his surprise, he won the contest and was immediately hired with an agent who managed to collaborate with directors of the stature of Tony Scott ( Top Gun: Passion and Glory 1986) or William Friedkin ( The Exorcist 1973). His first major project is titled After Sunset: The Life & Times of the Drive-In Theater (1995), a documentary very well received by critics at the time. He then returned to the director’s chair and once again took up his screenwriting pen for Bad Seed (2000), again this film caught the attention of many and he began to be sought after to write the scripts for mystery films starring Angelina Jolie with Stealing Lives (2004) or Halle Berry in Seducing a Stranger (2007) and again in 911: Deadly Call (2013). With an agenda a little more open to new projects, Jon Bokenkamp had the opportunity to create what would be one of the biggest hits of his career: The Blacklist (2013-). He has written each of the episodes with his creative team and also became the main producer. He was also responsible for creating the show’s spin-off miniseries: The Blaklist: Redemption (2017).
