Jared Lorenzen was an American football quarterback and manager. He had played four seasons with the New York Giants, who signed him with undrafted free agents in 2004. He began playing in the NFL after a successful college football career. Also, he was nicknamed Hefty Lefty because of his heavy weight and southpaw of him.
Additionally, Lorenzen was one of the heaviest quarterbacks in NFL history. However, in 2017, he launched a project in which he shared his fight against obesity, and for a year he lost around 100 pounds after weighing more than 500 pounds. The athlete was born as Jared Raymond Lorenzen on February 14, 1981 in Covington, Kentucky. He was born as the son of father Joe Lorenzen and mother Janet Hermes. He has a sister named Jennifer Lorenzen Lee. Other than this, he has provided no information about his early years or childhood.
Regarding his education, he attended Highlands High School in Fort Thomas, Kentucky. During his high school, he was a letterman for three years in football, basketball, and baseball. He completed his senior year shooting 62 percent for 3,393 yards, 45 touchdowns and six interceptions in 1998. In addition, he earned a senior national ranking of 19th with the title Mr. Football Award.

He then attended the University of Kentucky, where he dressed in red like a true frehman. He later became the Wildcats’ quarterback for the teams’ head coach, Hal Mumme, before returning Dusy Bonner. In the 2004 NFL Draft, he was not selected, but instead was signed as an undrafted free agent with the New York Giants. Later, he had turned down an offer from coach Tom Coughlin to play in the 2005 NFL Europa. In the 2004-05 season, he became the third-string quarterback behind starter Eli Manning and backup Tim Hasselbeck. In July 2008, he signed with the Indianapolis Colts and played during the preseason, but then quit during the final cuts for the 53-man roster.
After that, he was assigned to the Kentucky Horsemen in February 2009 of the AF2 league. After that, he retired as a player and his alma mater Highlands High School appointed him to coach the school team. However, he returned to his professional game again in 2011 and joined the Northern Kentucky River Monsters of the Ultimate Indoor Football League as general manager. After the 2011 season, he garnered positive reviews and was named league commissioner.
He left the UIFL’s top job and signed with the Owensboro Rage of the Continental Indoor Football League midway through the 2013 season. But he returned again to the Rivers Monster after Rage pulled out for two weeks due to lack of funds. After earning a 36-20 victory over the Bluegrass Warhorses, he broke his tibia the following week and ended his professional playing career.
