BIOGRAPHY
Daniel Michael “Danny” DeVito Jr, is an American actor, director and producer, born on November 17, 1944, in Neptune, New Jersey, United States. Son of Daniel DeVito and Julia Moccello, a couple of Italian immigrants, Danny studied at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel School and Oratory Prep School in Summit, New Jersey, both Catholic schools. Interested in acting, he would study at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts, while working as a hairdresser in his sister’s beauty salon, to pay for his studies.
With his characteristic height of 1.52 m tall, Danny began his career in the theater, although he also achieved some recognition as a screenwriter and director of short films. Although he participated in several films and series, in small roles, DeVito achieved fame as a television star with the popular series Taxi (1978-1983), in the role of Louie De Palma, over 114 episodes, which would lead him to to be one of the most recognized actors in cinema, making the leap with success in films such as Trapped without an Exit (1975), The Force of Affection (1983), Two Rascals After the Lost Emerald (1985), Boot Mom from the Train (1986 ), The War of the Roses (1989), Batman Returns (1992), Hoffa (1992), Junior (1994), Matilda (1996), Mars Attacks (1996) and LA Confidential (1997), among many others.
Director and producer since his beginnings, DeVito has directed films such as Hoffa (1992), Smoochy (2002) and Duplex (2003). Danny has been one of the most respected actors in recent years and, although lately, he has dedicated himself to dubbing films and animated series, one of his recent successes is his role as Frank Reynolds, in the successful film It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia (2006-2019), in which he has participated in 146 episodes.
