12 individuals suspected of being involved in kidnapping and armed robbery have been apprehended in Ondo State by the Western Nigeria Security Network, also known as the Amotekun Corps.

Commander of Amotekun in Ondo, Adetunji Adeleye, unveiled the suspects at the Command’s headquarters in Akure on Sunday.

Adeleye, who serves as the Special Adviser to Ondo State Governor on Security Matters, issued a stern warning to criminals seeking refuge in the state’s forest reserves, stating that they must leave or face legal consequences.

Emphasizing the determination to eliminate crime across the state, Adeleye declared, “There is no hiding place for criminals.”

“Of the 12 suspects being presented today, seven were apprehended in Owo. Among them, four were hired for kidnapping and armed robbery in Ondo State by the remaining three,” he revealed.

“They were caught with rifles and camouflage used to deceive unsuspecting commuters on the road, and they have confessed to their crimes,” Adeleye added.

He also highlighted the existence of a group specializing in robbing commercial motorcycles (Okada) in Akure and Akoko areas.

Adeleye assured the people of Ondo State that all security agencies are collaborating to ensure a crime-free yuletide period by reinforcing their stance of zero-tolerance towards criminal activities.

Additionally, he disclosed the deployment of 1,500 officers from the Corps to the 18 local government areas of the state to safeguard the Yuletide celebrations.
