Tauheed Epps who goes by the stage name 2 Chainz was born on the 12th ^day of September 1977 in College Park, Georgia in the United States of America. The prominent rapper was a former member of the defunct Southern hip-hop group called Playaz Circle, alongside Earl “Dolla Boy” Conyers; his childhood friend.

Education

2 Chainz was a student at North Clayton High School; where he was a renowned basketball player who came out second in his class. When he was still in high school, at age 15, he was arrested for possession of cannabis. He then attended Alabama State University as a scholar and played an important role on that university’s basketball team from 1995 to 1997.

There was a widely held assumption that 2 Chainza earned a 4.0 GPA from Alabama State University, which he outright debunks. He said that when he was a university student, he had some kind of problem that caused him to quit his job, but later returned to complete his studies. He did not explain the nature of the problem in which he got involved.

2 Chainz Early Beginnings

2 Chainz happens to be the mastermind behind the formation of the band Playaz Circle. Playaz Circle is an acronym that stands for “preparing legal resources for years from A to Z”. He started this group when he was in College Park, Georgia in 1997; alongside Earl Conyers, his high school friend. While Earl Conyers adopted the name “Dolla Boy”, Epps took the name “Titi Boy” as a nickname.

Earl and Epps were both introduced to Ludacris, their Atlanta rapper after he moved to their College Park compartment while still a DJ. The release of the indie album by the duo which they titled United We Stand United We Fall Ludacris started recording various songs with the band and some of them were played on his radio station.

Later, Ludacris became one of the most successful and best-selling rappers in South America. After hearing about Playaz Circle, he urged them to become members of his new label Disturbing Tha Peace; an offshoot of the prestigious Def Jam Records. 2 Chainz agreed to join the label, although Conyers refused to be officially signed until his mother recovered from her illness.

More so, Supply and Demand was the duo’s debut album released on September 30, 2007. One of the hits from the album Duffle Bag Boy became an urban hit and was widely accepted by the masses. Lil Wayne was featured in the song and the duo performed it at the BET Hip Hop Awards. The duo later released Flight 360: Liftoff as their second studio album on September 29, 2009.

In January 2010, Playaz Circle released a Big Dawg music video , their urban single featuring Birdman and Lil Wayne. Shortly after, 2 Chainz were evacuated from Disturbing Tha Peace in order to advance their careers. Initially, Ludacris didn’t want him to leave the label but eventually allowed it.

2 Chainz – The Name

During 2 Chainz’s career, several people supported the idea that the pseudonym “Titi Boy” was intended to tarnish the image of the female gender, which he flatly refuted. In 2011, Epps later decided to change his name to 2 Chainz and people became comfortable with his name change. Following the name change, he decided to drop a mixtape which he titled TRU REALigion. The mixtape landed number 58 on the Billboard Top R and B/Hip-Hop Album chart. Due to the smash success of the mixtape, Epps was featured in several songs by notable recorders such as Nicki Minaj’s Beez in The Trap and Kanye West’s Mercy

On March 24th, 2, Chainz alerted the public to Based on a ^T.ruStory. It was his first studio album. The original title of the album which was TRU to my ReaLigion was to be released on 14 ^th August 2012. Duck; the Canadian rapper, was featured in the album’s first single “No Lie”. As of March 11, there was a widespread rumor that 2 Chainz had been signed to GOOD Music; Kanye West’s label. Epps later refuted this speculation. Based on TRU Story It was a huge hit as it sold over 147,000 copies in its first week, peaking at number one on the US Billboard 200. ^rd By September 2012, the album had sold over 288,000 copies in the United States.
